ACH boys stay alive in state tournament

SPOKANE — Almira/Coulee-Hartline avoided elimination Wednesday at the Class 1B state tournament by beating Taholah 69-40.

The Warriors were the more balanced team led by junior guard Maguire Isaak’s 24 points. Hayden Loomis scored 11 points, Reese Isaak had 10, and Payton Nielsen chipped in eight points and eight rebounds.

Taholah’s Zach Cain got loose for a game-high 26 points, however, no other Chitwin scored more than six.

ACH led 29-18 at halftime and continued to grow the margin in the second half.

ACH plays No. 2 Muckleshoot Tribal today, 2 p.m., in the state quarterfinals. Muckleshoot Tribal is 25-2 and currently has an 18-game win streak.

Girls basketball

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 57, Taholah 25

SPOKANE — Almira/Coulee-Hartline dispatched Taholah 57-25 to reach the state quarterfinals.

Gabi Isaak totaled an efficient 14 points and six rebounds. Josie Pierce added 11 points and every other Warrior but one scored two or more points.

ACH advances to play No. 1 Colton today at 5:30 p.m.
