The honors continue to roll in for the Moses Lake baseball team, which returned to the 4A state baseball tournament for the first time since 2015.

The Chiefs (17-5) won the Columbia Basin Big Nine league championship and advanced to the 4A quarterfinals with a win over Mead in the postseason.

Now they’ve landed two players on the 2018 4A All-State Team. The Washington State Baseball Coaches Association named Austin Valdez, the Columbia Basin Big Nine pitcher of the year, and CBBN player of the year Dominic Signorelli to this year’s list of elite 4A baseball players from around the state.

Valdez finished the season with a 6-0 record and an ERA of 1.28 in 33 innings pitched. The big right-hander allowed 27 hits, giving up eight earned runs, while striking out 25 and walking just five with winning percentage of 9.70.

Signorelli finished the season with a batting average of .542 hitting out of the three hole. The junior also had a slugging percentage of .712, striking out just four times in 75 plate appearances. He had 18 RBIs and scored 23 times in his first season as the starting third baseman.

Wenatchee's Jeff Zehnder was named the coach of the year and Daniel Copeland of Skyview was the 2018 player of the year.
