Dan Vincent Ramsey June 1, 1948 - June 14, 2018

Dan Vincent Ramsey was born on June 1, 1948 to Anson Ramsey and Donnia Virginia Woods in Maysel, Clay County, W.V. He was one of 14 brothers and sisters.

Dan joined the United States Navy with his identical twin brother, Don, when they were 17 years old. While stationed in the San Francisco Bay area upon the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea, he met and married Valerie Nevvs, and together they had a son, Vincent. Dan served four tours to Vietnam and received an honorable discharge in 1969. Shortly after, he and Valerie separated, and Dan once again, followed his brother Don up to Washington state, where he would establish and spend the rest of his life.

In 1974, Dan got a job offer, which moved him from the west coast to the beautiful Columbia Basin. He worked as a mechanic at several dealerships and shops throughout the area and made quite the name for himself. He was known as “Chopper Dan” for his amazing talent and skill for building, chopping, and rebuilding motorcycles, as well as being able to fix just about anything.

In 1990, he began working for Siegfried farms in Basin City. There, he continued to develop his skills repairing and rebuilding farm equipment. He was an incredible asset to the farm, not only because of his exceptional ability, but also because of his discipline and work ethic. He loved his job and would always say he was a lucky man because he got to do his hobby for a living. He considered his coworkers as family.

Dan married Catherine Pacifico in 1991 and in so doing, gained a daughter right off the bat. Catherine’s daughter Marie was 4 years old. Three years later, in 1994, his youngest daughter Jessica was born when Dan was only 46 years young.

As the years went by, Dan continued to work hard to provide well for his family. He loved his children and grandchildren so very much and devoted himself to taking care of his family all of the rest of his life.

Dan passed away in his daughter’s home at 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018. He had been diagnosed with lung cancer in January 2017 and after receiving treatment, the cancer did not leave his body. Complications furthered and he eventually experienced a severe stroke. Three days later, he left this earth and passed on into eternity.

He is survived by four brothers Paul, Herbert, Joseph and Gene; four sisters Joyce, June, Peggy and Paulette; his ex-wife Catherine Ramsey; his son Vincent Ramsey; two daughters Jessica Alvarez with her husband Octavio and Marie Davis with her husband Edward; two grandchildren Lexie and Landon; a cat named Eli; nieces and nephews and many great friends.

Please join us on Saturday, June 30, 2018 for his celebration of life at the Othello Foursquare Church, located at 90 Venice Ave. in Othello, Wash. The service will begin at 12 noon, followed by a military burial service at Bess Hampton Memorial Garden, and a reception at the Othello Senior Center located at 755 N. Seventh Ave. in Othello, Wash.
