OTHELLO — Following their big win at the Triple Crown Father’s Day Slug Fest held in Tri-Cities, youth baseball team, O-Town Bombers, will be heading to the big dance in Steamboat Springs, Colorado to play in the Triple Crown World Series tournament.

The 11u team will be taking on other 11u teams from around the United States during the upcoming tournament July 23-29.

“Our kids are great, hardworking,” said coach Rigo Ozuna.

The O-Town Bombers, which began back in 2015, currently consists of 44 area kids in the program. The players are divided amongst four teams including 8u, 9u, 10u and 11u teams. Many of the players juggle various activities and sports commitments throughout the year, explained Ozuna, but they all manage to show up on time and give their best efforts even during winter conditioning practice.

Ozuna explained that while the team had often been the under dogs in the past, they never gave up and always pushed forward. Other coaches and directors often compliment them also, said Ozuna, as the players handle themselves well even when they are down.

Currently, the team is 32-7 in their season, and have come a long ways from where they first started.

Ozuna also has two of his sons on the teams, and enjoys watching them and all of the players progress.

“All of these kids are highly motivated,” said Ozuna.

With the high travel costs associated with competing at the series, a Go-Fund Me account has been set up to raise funds for travel expenses. The Go-fund Me account can be found by searching O-Town Bombers, along with stories of their success.
