CW Spuds split with Kennewick Outlaws

MOSES LAKE — Central Washington’s bats arrived in Game 2 and the Spuds were able to split with the Kennewick Outlaws, losing the opener 10-1 before winning the night cap 12-2.

The Spuds struggled from the plate in the opener and notched just two hits — one each from Jett Nelson and Josh Jesse.

Wyatt Visker scored on a Jesse single in the second inning to tie the game, however, Kennewick scored nine unanswered runs.

The Spuds broke out in Game 2 for 12 runs on seven hits, including a six-run fourth inning. Wade Visker and Ezekyel Ochoa led the charge with three RBI apiece.

The Spuds turned a 4-2 lead into a 10-2 lead with their big fourth inning. Wade Visker hit an RBI single, Ochoa hit a two-run single and Wyatt Visker drove a two-run double to center field during the flurry.

Red Raiders 10-6, Moses Lake 0-2

OTHELLO — Moses Lake was swept by the Red Raiders 10-0, 6-2.

The Red Raiders out-hit the Walleyes 11-1 in Game 1, blowing open the game with five runs in the third inning. Melic Hathaway, Jaxon Rocha and Gage Pruneda drove in two runs each.

Bryce Hansen recorded the Walleyes’ lone hit.

The Walleyes held a 2-1 lead late in Game 2 before the Red Raiders scored five runs in the sixth inning.

Kaeden Vasquez and Andrew Frey tallied one RBI each for Moses Lake.

Warden High School standout Ryan Arredondo was 1-for-3 from the plate and struck out 10 in just over four innings pitched.

The Red Raiders began their rally when two runs scored on a fielder’s choice by Jonathan Garza II. Othello extended its lead after a two-run single by Ebin Carmona and an RBI double by Nathan Garza Jr.
