OTHELLO — The Othello Community Museum was buzzing Saturday as community members gathered to celebrate the museum’s 45th anniversary.

The museum kicked off their 2018 season with an open house, cake, cookies and beverages. Volunteers and directors were also on hand to answer questions and showcase exhibits to the visitors.

Exhibits featured throughout the museum include schoolroom items, class yearbooks and letterman’s sweaters and jackets from years past, early Othello post office, handmade tools, items from the Milwaukee Railroad link with Othello, irrigation history, and many other historical points of interest from the Othello area.

The museum first came about in 1973, and has continued to grow its exhibits and items since, explained Shirley McCullough. They are always pleased to receive more local, historical pieces.

The Othello Community Museum is located at Third and Larch Street. The museum is open from 1-5 p.m. on Saturdays June through September. Group tours are also available by appointment.
