MOSES LAKE — The Sears Hometown Store in downtown Moses Lake is under new management and is ready to do business.

“I took over at the beginning of April,” said Brad Evers, the store’s new franchise owner.

To celebrate the change of ownership, Evers said his store will be offering an additional 10 percent off nearly everything in stock today and Saturday.

Sears Hometown was spun off from the parent company in 2012, and while it shares a name with the financially troubled, Illinois-based Sears Holdings big box retailer and sells all of the same brands, that’s where the similarity ends.

“Sears Hometown is different,” Evers said. “We have more of a hometown and personal touch. We have experienced sales associates who have worked here a long time and who are very knowledgeable.”

In addition to the sale, Evers said there will be a raffle for tools and barbecue accessories, as well a demonstration of grilling techniques on Saturday. KRDM will also be on site to do a live remote broadcast, he added.

Evers, who has a background in business management and has lived in Moses Lake for more than 30 years, was a manager and supervisor at Shari’s Cafe and Pies for 18 years before the Sears Hometown opportunity presented itself.

“It was a good opportunity, and I was ready to move,” Evers said.
