AUBURN — The Moses Lake River Dogs suffered one loss in four games at the Cam Christian Memorial Tournament.

Behind solid pitching and defense, the River Dogs finished the weekend 2-1-1.

Hunter Gibson drove in four runs and Moses Lake dominated Lacey 14-1 in Friday’s opener. Moses Lake had an atypical Saturday, losing its first game to Puyallup 5-3 before tying NW Reign Silver 3-3 after nine innings.

Puyallup struck for three runs in the first inning and led 4-3 through four innings. Evan McLean and Cody Alvarado, high school teammates, drove in one run each.

Against NW Reign, Emmitt Tatum stole home and McLean continued his big weekend with an RBI single to tie the game in the fifth inning. More, McLean pitched 7 1/3 innings with four strikeouts.

Dax Lindgren pitched a complete game, shutout and the River Dogs routed Oak Harbor 13-0 in their tournament finale. McLean tripled twice and had three RBI in a game that lasted just four innings.

Both Moses Lake and Columbia Basin River Dogs teams will play in the Father’s Day Classic in Centralia, which begins June 15.

Columbia Basin River Dogs 1-3 at Jake Long Memorial

EVERETT — Columbia Basin had to overcome the absence of a handful of starters at the Jake Long Memorial Tournament and finished 1-3.

Graduations and all-state showcases kept the River Dogs from fielding their true lineup.

Joe Taylor started the opener and Columbia Basin beat Laces 4-1. However, the River Dogs lost their next three games to Chaffey 9-5, Showtime 4-2 and a rematch with Laces 8-7.

Jordan Rios, of Moses Lake, pitched a complete game in the loss to Showtime. Rios and Taylor also totaled four hits each over the weekend.

Columbia Basin rallied from an 8-2 deficit against Laces and had the game-tying and go-ahead runs on third and second base, respectively, in the seventh inning before the final out was recorded.

Walleyes finish 3-1 in Spokane

SPOKANE — The Moses Lake Walleyes finished the Northside Clash Tournament 3-1.

Moses Lake won its first two games convincingly, beating the Black Sox 21-1 and Mt. Spokane 11-0.

Moses Lake pulled out a third win with a four-run seventh inning against Asotin County. After tying the game 6-6, John Shea put the ball in play and reached on an error as Isiah Bernal scored the winning run.

The Walleyes lost their tournament finale to Walla Walla 9-0.

Moses Lake hosts West Valley June 12, 5 p.m., in a doubleheader.
