Thank you from those who served

| June 12, 2018 1:00 AM

Thank you to all of the people who came out to help at the cemetery this year. With the help on the pole set out and cleaning, the flag raising and veterans’ grave flags and then on the take down that evening.

It is with the efforts of those who come out to help us that the Veterans of Foreign Wars is able to do so much. We hear several times when we are out there how nice it looks and they are informed that it is a community effort that makes it what it is.

We would like to say thank you to Amy Bates for the National Anthem, John Lockart for his talk and to Hannah Doyle, the state Voice of Democracy winner, for coming to Othello to read her speech. We also thank the Othello High School choir for their contribution and Oscar Gomez for the sound system.

The flag flying on the old memorial, where the list of veterans’ names are, was flown over the Tomb of the Unknown soldier in Washington, D.C. Thank you to Donna Ruttan for bringing that out so we could fly it.

Thank you to Josh Stelter for all of his support this year and the extra work he did for us.

Thank you everybody for making this day mean so much to so many and knowing you don’t always get to hear the good comments your work has accomplished.

Thank you,

Members of the Othello Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8889
