Facts from the past gleaned from the Moses Lake Herald, Columbia Basin Herald and The Neppel Record by Cheryl (Driggs) Elkins.

From the Columbia Basin Daily Herald on April 9, 1979:

Special spray for head lice

People who have been afflicted with head lice in their family may need a rather special spring cleaning which includes the use of a special spray to prevent re-infestation.

A product that has been found to be effective is called R&C Spray. It is recommended for use on mattresses, upholstered furniture and other objects which cannot be laundered or dry cleaned. R&C Spray is reported to eliminate both the lice and their eggs.

Sporadic outbreaks of head lice continue to plague communities all over the country. In recent years affluent city areas as well as deprived communities are equally affected. Prescription medications will control the lice but re-infestation is likely to occur when the sources of contamination are not eliminated.

From the Columbia Basin Herald on Oct. 21, 1949:

Guild to hear Quincy pastor

The Rev. Charles Weishaupt, pastor of the American Lutheran Church at Quincy, will be the speaker at a Thanksgiving service of the Immanuel Lutheran guild, women’s organization of the Moses Lake church, next Thursday afternoon in the home of Mrs. James McCallum. Mrs. Roy Master will be the hostess.

Weishaupt recently accepted a call to become assistant to the executive secretary of foreign missions in the American Lutheran Church, with headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Grange women aid wheel chair fund

There’s $10 more in the wheel chair fund of Samaritan Hospital, donated by the Grange Home Economics Group. The money was voted during the group’s Oct. 14 meeting in the home of Mrs. Matt DeShaw. There were 20 members on hand to talk over the day’s business and to take their share finishing up baby garments for a fall Bazaar. Mrs. Bud Galloway was assisting hostess.
