Thank you to a caring police officer

| June 7, 2018 3:00 AM

We all focus on the bad in life and forget that God still has some good police serving the law. Now don’t get me wrong, I know there are some bad cops. But we shouldn’t forget the good officers.

And that’s my story today. In early May, driving on a state highway, I got pulled over by Moses Lake Police Officer Frey. I was so nervous because I just got my driver’s license in 2017. But Officer Frey took my nervousness away. He walked up and said, “You know why I pulled you over? You were going 52 in a 70 mph speed zone. You’re driving safely, but my concern is for your safety. These cars are driving fast.”

After Officer Frey ran my driver’s license, he returned it to me and his concern was still for my safety. He said, “James, let me pull out first and you follow me.”

Officer Frey, James Earl Jones wants to thank you for treating me with the utmost respect and kindness. Thanks for putting my safety over my color. Officer Frey, you are one of the good cops who don’t get remembered. But I’ll never forget your concern for my safety. From the start of the traffic stop to the end, your concern was James Earl Jones’ safety. And in July I will be requesting to do a ride-along with you. Myself, I’ve always wanted to be a police officer. Officer Frey, you confirm that vision for me. Thank you.
