Daniel E. Simpson March 17, 1928 - May 31, 2018

Daniel E. Simpson was born March 17, 1928, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He passed away on May 31, 2018, in Kennewick.

Dan was raised throughout the Southwest and West Coast, graduating from Roosevelt High School in Portland, Ore. He enlisted and served in the Army Air Corps in Fairbanks, Alaska. After an honorable discharge, he settled in Othello and then attended Washington State College studying architecture. After two years of college, he learned that he preferred working with his hands over studying and started Simpson Construction in 1952.

In 1957, Dan married Zella Farwell and together they raised four children. His passions were any family time, his beloved “Little Dog” Duke and hunting trips with his son, grandsons and friends.

Dan worked side-by-side with his son James in the construction trade until 2010. Simpson Construction built or remodeled over 100 businesses and homes in Othello and surrounding areas.

Dedicated to the service of Christ, Dan was a lifelong Christian. In Othello, as a charter member of First Baptist Church, he was instrumental in construction of the church buildings.

He was preceded in death by Zella, his wife of 49 years, by parents Jesse and Edna Simpson, and by sisters Doris Lewis and Anita Simpson.

He is survived by children James (Connie) Simpson, Danette (Tim) Peeke, Becky (Ron) Cox, and Valerie (Jack) Kelley and by grandchildren Jake and Marissa Simpson, Jessica and Sam Hamilton, Jeff Simpson, Alyssa Peeke, Nicole Peeke, Ron and Brittany Cox, Leslie Cox, Kane Kelley and Cole Kelley. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Finley, Rivie and Hope Cox and Sawyer Hamilton.

Our entire family would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the Hawthorne Court staff, Home Instead caregivers, and Heartlinks Hospice. The loving care that was given to our father and grandfather will never be forgotten.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 8, at 1 p.m. at Othello First Baptist Church. Following the service, please join Dan’s family for a time to share memories at the home of James and Connie Simpson in Pasco. Contact any family member for directions to James house.
