Events for teens part of library program

| June 4, 2018 3:00 AM

WENATCHEE — Special events for teens will be part of the annual summer reading program sponsored by the North Central Regional Library.

The summer reading program is a longtime tradition, and a teen program was added a few years ago. For 2018, the special events include a reading by an author of young adult books, a karaoke party and a variety show by performers from Bushwick Northwest, a Seattle-based arts organization.

Different libraries have different schedules, and special events are scheduled at different times depending on the library. More information is available at each local library.

Bushwick Northwest sponsors a book club, and the variety show features original works based on books read by the songwriters. The variety show is scheduled for Moses Lake, Ephrata and George.

Author Dan Gemeinhart will be reading from his works and talking about writing in Ephrata, Moses Lake and Quincy. Gemeinhart, Cashmere, has written three novels for young adults, all set in the Pacific Northwest.

A karaoke party for teens is scheduled in Moses Lake, Ephrata, George, Royal City and Soap Lake.
