Mitchel Derek Franz

February 8, 1990 – July 25, 2018

Mitchel Derek Franz passed away on July 25, 2018 as a result of a car accident.

He was born Feb. 8, 1990 to parents Lori Barnett from Moses Lake and Michael Franz of Maple Valley, Wash. He graduated from Moses Lake High School in 2009, where he was a member of the basketball team. He was currently employed at Budweiser Distribution.

As a fan who lived and breathed basketball, Mitchel loved watching the Lakers play on TV and he also loved cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs during the football season. He was a master card player who always wanted to play “one more hand” at family gatherings. He loved spending time fishing, bowling and swimming.

Mitchel is survived by his parents Lori Barnett and Michael Franz; siblings Nicole Franz, Matthew Franz, Elijah Barnett and Joshua Barnett; grandparents Roseann and Freeman Homer and Daniel Franz and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by the love of his life, his daughter Madilyn Rose Schmig.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Grace Harvest Church, 313 Fig St. in Moses Lake, Wash. Private burial will follow. Please sign the online guestbook or share a memory with family at www.kayseschapel.com. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory.
