River Dogs lose twice in final tuneup before world series

BELLEVUE — The River Dogs lost twice in their final tuneup before the Babe Ruth Senior World Series.

Columbia Basin fell to Chaffey Baseball 7-4 and the Seattle Stars 11-5.

Chaffey pulled ahead 3-0 in the fourth inning before Columbia Basin tied the game with three runs in the fifth, Dominic Signorelli hit an RBI triple and scored on an error. Dax Lindgren followed with an RBI single.

Chaffey responded with four runs in the home half to retake the lead for good. Kenji Suzuki finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

The River Dogs opened up a 5-0 lead in their second game before the Stars roared back with 11 unanswered runs.

Cody Alvarado drove in two runs and Zac Berryman doubled.

Columbia Basin’s first world series game is against Mobile, Ala., 9 a.m. Pacific time, on Aug. 5.
