River Dogs select team finishes pool play unbeaten
GILLETTE, Wyo. — The River Dogs select team won five consecutive games to finish pool play unbeaten.
After routing British Columbia 19-0 in their tournament opener on Thursday, the River Dogs beat the Centerfield Roosters 14-3, Lakeside Recovery 11-1, the Wyoming All-Stars 8-4 and the Calgary Blues 15-3.
Columbia Basin will play the No. 2 team from the American Division today at noon in the regional semifinals.
Ephrata’s Zac Berryman doubled twice and was 5-for-5 with two RBIs against Centerfield. The River Dogs opened up a 10-0 lead after two innings.
Against familiar foe Lakeside, Columbia Basin turned a relatively close game into a blowout after scoring eight runs in the fifth inning. The game ended on an RBI single by Joe Taylor that scored Evan McLean. Taylor finished 3-for-4 with a double and home run.
The River Dogs scored eight unanswered runs to rally from a 4-0 deficit against Wyoming. Berryman homered and scored three runs.
Columbia Basin also rallied in their final game of pool play, scoring 13 unanswered runs against Calgary. The River Dogs received home runs from Cody Alvarado, Tristen Garland, Dominic Signorelli, Emmitt Tatum and Josh Williams.
