MOSES LAKE - Firefighters in Moses Lake were able to stomp out a late night blaze that started out as a vehicle fire on Thursday before the flames damaged nearby homes.
The Moses Lake Fire Department was initially dispatched to a car fire at the residence, located at Longview Street Northeast and Parkway Drive Northeast, about 9:30 p.m. When firefighters arrived, officers with the Moses Lake Police Department were already at the scene and had deployed a fire extinguisher to quell the flames, MLFD Chief Brett Bastian said.
The fire spread to an attached carport and a nearby double-wide mobile home. The carport was destroyed, but Bastian said the double-wide only received minor damage due to firefighters extinguishing the flames before they were able to spread into the interior of the mobile home.
The fire was under control by 9:45 p.m. The fire is “suspicious” in nature and the cause is under investigation. There was no reported injuries.
