Soap Lake belongs to everyone, not just event attendees

| July 26, 2018 3:00 AM

Three weeks ago, during the first Soap Lake fire, we were inundated with a hundred firefighters and their vehicles, tents, trailers, water trucks and sanitary facilities. Now on the third weekend in July, a handful of cosplay motorcyclists perform a takeover of the Soap Lake park. Tents and trailers are parked on the only hard walkway in the park. Any handicapped users are forced to trudge through the sand. All other users must weave their way through scattered paid guests. Everyone has a right to use the park and parking on the paved service road and impinging on the access of others is rude and unnecessary.
