| July 26, 2018 3:00 AM

June 12, 1933 – July 1, 2018

Al “Foxy” Fox, was carried by the Angels into his own Field of Dreams on July 1, 2018 at the age of 85.

Al was born in Park City, Mont. on June 12, 1933 to the late Esther and Phillip Fox. He graduated from Sunnyside High School, attended the Williamson Florida School of Baseball and went on to serve in the Army as a decoder in the Korean War. Al moved to Othello in 1961. He married Barbara Smith and had four children Troy, Cheryl, Debbie and Patty. Al remarried to Margaret Chandler and his family grew, adding Colleen, Wayne, Gloria and Esther.

Al was an extremely social person and had many different jobs and hobbies that allowed him to socialize. His main love was baseball and he had a knack for bringing people together around the game. Al was a member of the Othello Lions Club and had many Jaycee awards including Citizen of the Year. He was active with Jaycees in many ways including flag placing projects and serving as treasurer. He also served as chairman of the Little League Baseball Organization, chairman of the All-American Red Head Baseball Team and manager of the Regular and Slow Pitch baseball leagues. Al hosted and pitched in Foxy’s tournaments, coached many teams and was a spot-on umpire. If Al wasn’t participating in baseball he was talking about it and spent many nights in animated discussion with his brother Garrett assessing the Mariners.

He will be missed by all who loved him, including his 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sons- and daughters-in-laws, extended family and many friends. Al always had a smile on his face, a toothpick in his mouth and a hitch in his walk, and being around him always warmed your heart. Sometimes life’s a pitch; make ’em swing, Al.

A celebration of Life will be held at CG Public House and Catering in Kennewick on Aug. 4 at 2 p.m.
