MOSES LAKE - An alleged dispute of the ownership of a vehicle near Moses Lake Wednesday evening resulted in the shooting death of a 26-year-old Moses Lake man.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting occurred in the 12000 block of Baseline Road East, near Moses Lake. Deputies responded to the area about 9:40 p.m. after receiving reports of gunshots. Upon arrival deputies reportedly located the victim, 26-year-old David Moeller, being assisted by neighbors. Moeller was transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake treatment, where he later died.

“The man identified as the shooter in this case is cooperating with the investigation. Early indications are that the two were arguing over ownership of a jeep when the victim went to his residence. An argument then escalated to a physical altercation before the victim was shot,” GCSO spokesperson Sharon Palmerton explained. “Because no criminal charges have been filed, the name of the other man involved in the case is being withheld.”

Deputies are still investigating the incident. If you have any information contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 509-762-1160 or email crimetips@grantcountywa.gov. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
