Mel Olson's celebration of life scheduled for Thursday
MOSES LAKE — Longtime Moses Lake community member Mel Olson celebrated athletics as a coach and broadcaster.
Now, the Columbia Basin will have an opportunity to celebrate the life of Olson this Thursday at the Moses Lake High School gymnasium. Doors open at noon and the celebration of life is scheduled to last from 2 to 3 p.m.
“It’s a celebration of the athletic family of the Columbia Basin,” former MLHS head wrestling coach Dick Deane said.
Attendees are encouraged to wear maroon and gold for Moses Lake High School or red and white for Chief Moses Middle School.
Olson passed away in early July after he was struck while riding his bicycle. Olson called MLHS athletics for over 50 years.
