Wenatchee scores early, often to beat Yakima Valley

YAKIMA — Wenatchee scored in the first four innings to beat Yakima Valley 8-3 for a series victory.

The AppleSox led 4-3 after two innings before rattling off three runs in the third and one in the fourth to pull away.

Nick Seamons and Johnny Sage led the offense with two RBIs each.

Wenatchee starting pitcher Alec Gomez struck out four batters and allowed three runs on five hits.

Connor McCord got things started early for the AppleSox with a first-inning homer. Monday’s big fly was McCord’s second in the last three days and third in the last six.

The AppleSox opened up a 4-0 lead in the top of the second after Joey Magro hit an RBI single and Sage drove in the first of his two runs with a sacrifice fly.

After the Pippins drew closer with three runs in the second inning, Jacob Prater added an RBI on a ground out and Seamons hit a two-run blast to left field in the third.
