Despite delays, Wendy's still coming to Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE — With some of the last permitting paperwork completed, Spokane-based company Wenspoke expects to break ground on a Wendy’s franchise in Moses Lake by late-August to early-September.

After breaking ground, construction is estimated to take around 110 days to complete, said Jennifer Robson, vice president of business operations for Wenspoke.

Management-level positions for the new restaurant were posted to most job listing sites Wednesday and crew level positions will be posted in coming weeks, said Robson.

The news comes after repeated delays prevented the project from being started earlier this year. Initial plans to break ground in spring were delayed too long for construction to be completed before summer, when the company is focused on sales, Robson said.

Additional delays were created due to a minor breakdown in communications between city officials and Wenspoke, said Gil Alvarado, deputy city manager and community development director for Moses Lake. Alvarado said that city officials had approved permits for the project before now, but that Wenspoke executives had not realized processing was complete. A few phone calls cleared up the misunderstanding, hopefully pushing the start of construction forward, Alvarado said.
