Nathalia J Smith, a resident of Moses Lake for over 25 years, went to be with her Lord Sunday, July 1, 2018. Nathalia was born June 6, 1930 in Chicago Ill. to Walton and Clara Ware.

Nathalia loved singing at her church and for special occasions. She also sang at various nursing homes in Moses Lake. She loved to fish and camp and enjoyed horseback riding. She also enjoyed roller skating in her younger years.

Mrs. Smith earned a degree from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago and made her debut there at the Civic Opera House where she performed opera and classical music publicly until moving to California. She performed with large and small bands and toured California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington with a four-piece band. She was also a member of the Washington State Music Teachers Association.

She had a bachelor’s degree in Biblical education which she earned in 1993. She also earned a Master of Arts degree specializing in Sacred Music and Women’s Ministry from Multnomah Bible College in Portland, Ore. which she earned in 2004 at the age of 74.

Nathalia was preceded in death by three siblings and her daughter Judith. She is survived by her brother Larry Ware, sister Beatrice Baylock, nieces Gloria Holdrege and Andrean (Cookie) Jacobs, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service for Nathalia at First Baptist Church, 724 W. Fourth Ave. at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 21.
