Wenatchee woman arrested in son's death

EAST WENATCHEE - The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says they have arrested a Wenatchee woman in connection with the death of her two-year-old son.

Douglas County detectives arrested Elaine A. Hurd, 35, of Wenatchee, after an “extensive investigation” into the death of her two-year-old son, Douglas County Sheriff Kevin W. Morris said.

The DCSO’s investigation reportedly revealed Hurd didn’t bring her son in for necessary medical treatment following a broken arm injury and blunt force trauma to his head, which ultimately led to the boy’s death.

Hurd was initially booked into the Chelan County Regional Jail for second-degree manslaughter and fourth-degree criminal mistreatment, but as of Friday morning the jail’s intake roster no longer shows her as being lodged in the jail.
