Jett Nelson leads Spuds over G-Prep
SPOKANE — Jett Nelson was 5-for-5 with three runs scored and Central Washington defeated Gonzaga Prep 11-2 in a nine-inning game.
Central Washington wasted no time, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning.
Zach Valdez doubled home a pair.
The Spuds held a 2-1 advantage through three innings before scoring four runs in the fourth.
Kameron Huberdeau and Tre Ramirez hit consecutive RBI singles — Huberdeau’s the two-run variety — to begin the rally.
Valdez added to his evening with a sacrifice fly that scored Huberdeau.
The Spuds out-hit G-Prep 18-4, led by Nelson’s five singles.
Huberdeau and Valdez totaled three RBI each.
The bullpen of Travis Robertson, CJ Ramirez, Mikey Chase and Ezekyel Ochoa pitched 5 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
