| July 13, 2018 1:00 AM

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Aubree Skone traded in her soccer cleats for some boots this summer.

Skone, an incoming senior at Warden High School, showed that her athletic talents extend further than the pitch after she qualified for the National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR) in Rock Springs, Wyo.

Skone was an all-state soccer player in the fall, now she will test her mettle against the best goat tiers in the country.

Warden’s Dylan Beck also qualified and Soap Lake’s Austin Herrera will compete in bull riding.

The 70th annual NHSFR features over 1,600 competitors from across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The rodeo begins July 15 and runs through July 21.

Competitors must finish in the top 20 through the first two rounds to advance to next Saturday’s finals.
