Malaysia introduces new 'salted eggs' flavored chip made with U.S. frozen potatoes
Malaysian food manufactures were looking to create a new range of potato chip snacks featuring regional flavors, including “salted eggs.” After trying several potato products, they had the best results with U.S. frozen potato skin-on natural cut chips. This was due to the premium taste and texture.
The food manufactures also found that the U.S. potato product was able to produce a higher-quality, larger-sized chip and consistently provided year-round supply.
They now have four flavors of the potato chips using frozen potatoes, the salted egg flavor being the most popular.
The product is sold in several supermarkets in both Malaysia and Singapore and they are now looking to expand their distribution to more markets.
