Norma Cora Foster Booher

Norma Cora Foster Booher, 91 retired postmaster, passed away peacefully in Wenatchee, Wash.

Norma was born in Creston, Iowa on July 6, 1926. She moved to Washington in 1948 where she worked for the Milwaukee Railroad Depot at Beverly, Wash.

In 1948 she met James R. Booher at a dance which led to them being married Nov. 28, 1948. They farmed and ranched at Smyrna, Wash.

In 1951 their first daughter Cathy Rose was born. In 1954 their second daughter Nancy Ellen was born and in 1960 their third daughter Marcy Jo was born.

Norma worked for the Postal Service as a clerk and head postmaster for 44 years.

Along the way she had many hobbies, quilting, crocheting, oil painting, reading books and lots of traveling to postal conventions. She played many instruments – violin, piano, auto harp, drums and clarinet. She was also a member of many clubs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Booher and her parents Elmer L. and Rose A. Foster.

She is survived by her daughters Cathy R. Shaw of Royal City, Nancy Theis (Bill) of Moses Lake and Marcy Jo Pearson of Soap Lake; three grandchildren Kimberley R. Shaw of Yakima, James A. Shaw (Samantha) of Moses Lake and Jared Theis (Krystal) of Spokane, and five great-grandchildren.

She is remembered by a lot of friends at Royal City and Waterville where she called home.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date for her family and friends. Arrangements are in care of Pioneer Memorial Services, Moses Lake, Wash.
