Moses Lake throws Freedom Fest this weekend
MOSES LAKE — For those still hungry for fireworks and fried food after Wednesday’s Fourth of July festivities, but who don’t want to wait until New Year’s Eve, Moses Lake’s Freedom Fest is one more chance to get their fill.
Taking place this Saturday and Sunday, July 7 and 8, Freedom Fest is going to be jam-packed with activities, music and vintage cars. Festival goers will be able to find a bite to eat at the Food Truck Rodeo and the Moses Lake Farmers Market, as well as a drink to wash it all down at the festival’s beer and wine garden.
Participants will be able to peruse crafts at the Vintage and Artist Market, though parents with small children may have an easier time over at the Home Depot Kids Zone, which will give children an opportunity to do some crafting of their own.
Rock, blues and country music fans have a lot to look forward to Saturday, with a performance on the Toyota Entertainment Stage by Lake City Blues from noon to 1:45 p.m., Vision Seekerz from 2:15 p.m. to 4 p.m., Cruise Control from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and the Jake Gill Band at 7 to 10 p.m.
There will be a “Salute to our Veterans” between performances by Cruise Control and the Jake Gill Band, from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Finally, fireworks displays are scheduled for 10 p.m., paid for by a grant from the City of Moses Lake.
Sunday features Latin American music with a blend of classic mariachi and rock music, which Event Coordinator Tera Redwine said is hoped to attract a more diverse crowd to the festival.
“We want to reach out and invite as many different kinds of people as possible, including the Latin American community,” Redwine said.
Los Kompas Del Sur will kick things off from noon to 1:45 p.m., followed by Paso Firme from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. and Rebeldes De La Sierra to close things out from 4:10 to 6 p.m.
Key sponsors for the event include Samaritan Healthcare and Toyota. More information can be found on the event page at www.moseslakefreedomfest.com or contact 1-509-669-0054.
