Bake sale slated Feb. 11 by Lady Lions

Lady Lions will have a bake sale Saturday, Feb. 11, weather permitting. Mrs. Gene Sivertson announced that the sale will start at 10 a.m. in the Moses Lake Cash Store. Proceeds will be added to club funds for purchase of equipment for Samaritan Hospital.

Cooker awarded to Grange women

Members of the Grange Home Economics Group won a 22-quart pressure cooker for last fall’s canning activities, they learned this week. Mrs. A.O. Pederson, chairman received word from the Bernadine Lid Co. that the cooker is being shipped here because the local group used more of the company’s lids than any other group in last fall’s Pomona Canning Contest, judged at Wilson Creek. Mrs. Pederson said the large cooker will be a welcome addition to the kitchen at the new grange hall.

Who’s doing what…

-Alex Law and Russel Swanson drove to Seattle Sunday to attend the Pacific Northwest Housing Show.

-Mrs. George Gorgol and her two children and Mrs. Ed Crans drove to Seattle Tuesday. Mrs. Gorgol and the children are to sail this weekend to Japan to join Captain Gorgol. Mrs. Cras Maynard Hospital for treatment.

- Mel Zornes and his father, M.R. Zornes, weekended in Spokane. Biggest excitement was a three-alarm fire there Sunday just half a block from their home.

-D.L. Lundahl of Seattle is in charge of Power Thrifty Drug Store for the next month while Mr. and Mrs. Jay Power vacation at Tucson, Ariz. Mr. and Mrs. Power left Sunday by car to visit relatives in Yakima before heading south.

-The Boy Scout troop met Monday night in the grade school in spite of weather which had caused cancellation of Women’s Club, Junior Club and the Grange Home Economics group during the previous days.

-Paul Guffin expects to be in Oregon for the next four or five months, Mrs. Guffin said this week. He is working for the census bureau on a survey of irrigation and drainage facilities there.

-Mrs. L.M. Clink left Monday evening for Lewiston, Idaho, where her father is hospitalized with broken hip.
