1 injured in accident near Odessa Saturday
ODESSA — A man was injured in a collision Saturday when he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel.
A little after 6 p.m. Frank W. Cook, 52, of Moses Lake was driving a 1997 Ford Expedition east on state Route 28 about 11 miles east of Odessa, when he reportedly fell asleep. The Expedition crossed over into the westbound lanes and onto the shoulder of SR-28, whereupon Cook overcorrected and the vehicle rolled over, coming to rest on the eastbound shoulder, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Cook, who was wearing his seatbelt, was injured and airlifted to Sacred Heard Medical Center in Spokane. Neither drugs nor alcohol was apparently a factor in the collision, and Cook was cited for wheels off the roadway and driving with a suspended license. The Expedition was totaled and impounded by Wilbur Auto Body.
