Prep roundup: Soap Lake girls lose 4OT thriller

SOAP LAKE — It took four overtimes to settle the second game between Soap Lake and Manson.

Sierra Janikowski’s 26 points wasn’t enough for Soap Lake as Manson held on to win 62-61.

The Eagles led 24-17 at halftime, but a five-point third quarter allowed the Trojans back in the game.

Sophie Janikowski chipped in 12 points.

Soap Lake and Manson are now tied for sixth place in the Central Washington 2B league at 4-10.

Moses Lake Christian 53, Harrington 41

MOSES LAKE — Rylee Homesley poured in 17 points and Moses Lake Christian beat Harrington 53-41.

MLCA previously lost to Harrington 51-33 on Dec. 15.

“We’re taking care of the ball a lot better now,” head coach Josh Kast.

Low turnovers in addition to converting easy baskets helped the Lions win the second meeting.

Rubi Montoya and Cassidy Stanley scored eight points each.

Warden 52, Wahluke 39

WARDEN — Warden pulled away from Wahluke with a 21-10 fourth quarter and won 52-39.

Warden led by just two points at halftime.

Bailey Whitney led all scorers with 22 points. Natalie Cole had 11 points and Cassidy Turner, Warden’s lone senior, scored eight points.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 59, Reardan 22

RITZVILLE — Lind-Ritzville/Sprague controlled the game from the opening whistle and blew out Reardan 59-22.

The Broncos led 27-9 at halftime.

Peyton Curtis scored a game-high 20 points and Eliza Galbreath added 13.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 61, Columbia 12

COULEE CITY — Almira/Coulee-Hartline led 41-4 at halftime en route to a lopsided win over Columbia 61-12.

Tiffany Boutain and Caitlin O’Neil paced the Warriors with 10 points each. Gabi Isaak added nine points.

Boys basketball

Wahluke 58, Warden 54

WARDEN — Standout duo Sergio Pineda and Ricky Cabrera scored 20 and 19 points, respectively, and Wahluke rallied to beat Warden 58-54.

The Cougars held a 30-28 halftime lead behind 12 points from Jesus Mercado.

The Warriors regained the lead in the second-half and were up by 12 before the Cougars cut the deficit to two points late in the fourth quarter.

Zach Richins led Warden with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds. Dreyton Martinez scored 11 points.

Moses Lake Christian 65, Harrington 27

MOSES LAKE — Wes Meise scored a career-high 21 points and Moses Lake Christian cruised by Harrington 65-27.

Head coach Lonny Brown said Meise did a good job with his body control in the post in order to convert his chances.

Pierre Boorman added 20 points, but the entire roster was involved.

“The guys really moved the ball well,” Brown said.

Reardan 35, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 34

RITZVILLE — A pair of late free throws sunk Lind-Ritzville/Sprague in its loss to Reardan 35-34.

Reardan’s Andrew Alsept made a pair from the charity stripe with nine seconds left to give the Indians the lead for good.

Bryce Kelly led the Broncos with 10 points.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 71, Columbia 30

COULEE CITY — Hayden Loomis scored 18 points and Almira/Coulee-Hartline blew out Columbia 71-30.

Payton Nielsen (16) and Reese Isaak (13) joined Loomis in double figures.

The Warriors led 37-12 at halftime.
