OTHELLO — A drug investigation in Othello on Monday resulted in the arrest of two students for marijuana possession.

On Monday the Othello Police Department conducted a day-long drug investigation in the city. Arrested during the investigation was a 12-year-old middle school student, who was reportedly found to be in possession of 6.43 grams of marijuana.

Later in the investigation officers reportedly searched a residence in the 300 block of South Third Avenue. Police reportedly recovered 15.44 grams of marijuana during the search. Arrested at the location was a 13-year-old middle school student, who was taken into custody for possession with intent to deliver marijuana.

Although Washington voters legalized marijuana for recreational use, the Revised Code of Washington prohibits, just as it does with alcohol, possession of marijuana by people under 21 years of age.
