MOSES LAKE — The Portland Jr. Winterhawks-Moses Lake Coyotes competitive showcase continued this weekend on the home ice during the U12 Rep Winter Classic at Larson Recreation Center rink in Moses Lake.
The two programs went into the Winter Classic with a 2-2 record against each other and came out the other side in a 3-3 deadlock.
The only difference is that Moses Lake defeated Portland 2-1 during the bracket play and the Winterhawks came back to beat the Coyotes 6-2 in the championship match.
The Winter Classic was sponsored by the Moses Lake Hockey Association and featured PeeWee teams from Seattle, Tacoma, Everett and Portland, Ore.
One couple from Portland that travels with the Winterhawks on their competitive schedule marveled at the outdoor facility and the rink in Moses Lake. “It’s got a great feel and it’s definitely been a class act tournament,” they said.
