Basin roundup: Moses Lake takes third at Dream Duals

SPOKANE — Moses Lake won three out of five duals to finish third at Dream Duals.

Moses Lake lost its opener to University 43-28. University ended up winning the 4A division.

The Chiefs responded with wins over Camas (44-27), Hanford (51-12) and Enumclaw (54-21). Mead edged Moses Lake 34-32 in the second- third-place dual.

Hunter Cruz won all five of his matches by fall. Jonathan Tanguma was also unbeaten.

Moses Lake closes its regular season at home Tuesday, 7:30 p.m., against Sunnyside.

Warden girls wrestling finished second to Sunnyside at Dream Duals.

In the 1A division, Warden boys wrestling took fifth place. The Cougars split four duals, beating league rival Royal 45-30 and Klahowya 43-21.

Anthony Martinez finished 4-0 at 132 pounds. Tyrone Mendez won two matches at 182 pounds and two matches at 195 pounds.

Royal won one of four duals to take seventh place. The Knights won their finale against Lakeside 33-27.

Moses Lake 59, Eisenhower 52

YAKIMA — Moses Lake outscored Eisenhower 17-7 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 59-52 win.

The trio of Zach Phillips (17), Cory Kunjara (15) and Evan McLean (10) led the Chiefs.

Selah 93, Ephrata 66-Prosser 65, Ephrata 54

Ephrata slipped in the CWAC standings with two losses against Selah 93-66 and Prosser 65-54.

Josh Benthem scored 14 points against the Vikings. However, Selah hummed offensively and led 50-27 at halftime.

Hunter James had 14 points against Prosser. Jakob Oxos added 12.

Othello 67, Quincy 38-Othello 64, Grandview 57

Othello drew within one game of a district playoff spot with a pair of wins over Quincy 67-38 and Grandview 64-57.

The Huskies outlasted the Greyhounds with 24 points in the fourth quarter. Jonathan Garza scored 23 points and Kyler Villarreal added 18

Wahluke 49, Kiona-Benton 38-Wahluke 56, River View 45

Wahluke ran its win streak to four games, beating Kiona-Benton 49-38 and River View 56-45.

Wahluke is tied with Connell for second place in the SCAC East.

Ricky Cabrera scored 24 points against the Panthers.

Royal 60, River View 37-Royal 64, Columbia 40

Royal moved to 9-0 in the SCAC East with wins over River View 60-37 and Columbia 64-40.

Owen Ellis scored a team-high 18 points against the Coyotes.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 72, Northport 20

NORTHPORT — Almira/Coulee-Hartline held Northport to single digits in every quarter to win comfortably 72-20.

The Warriors led 42-8 at halftime.

Maguire Isaak scored 17 points and Payton Nielsen had 15.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 44, Wilbur-Creston 21-Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 63, Kettle Falls 54

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague rode a pair of hot starts to beat Wilbur-Creston 44-21 and Kettle Falls 63-54.

LRS held Wilbur to one points in the first quarter. Bryce Kelly scored nine points.

Against Kettle Falls, LRS raced to a 23-8 lead after one quarter. Camden Smith led the Broncos with 18 points.

Moses Lake continued to roll with lopsided wins over Eisenhower 68-23 and Bothell 72-37.

The Chiefs led the Cadets 21-2 after one quarter. Jamie Loera scored 26 points and Abby Rathbun had 19.

Ephrata 58, Selah 39-Prosser 56, Ephrata 44

Ephrata stayed in the hunt for the district playoffs with a win over Selah 58-39. Prosser tamed the Tigers Saturday night 56-44.

Madison Martin scored a game-high 18 points against the Vikings. Katelyn Ostrowski chipped in 12 points.

Othello 57, Quincy 28-Grandview 83, Othello 42

Othello split two games, beating Quincy 57-28 before losing to Grandview 83-42.

Macy Hampton scored 22 of the Huskies’ 42 points against the Greyhounds.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 55, Northport 30

NORTHPORT — Almira/Coulee-Hartline cruised by Northport 55-30.

Gabi Isaak paced the Warriors with 18 points.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 66, Wilbur-Creston 33-Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 43, Kettle Falls 34

Peyton Curtis scored 48 points combined in two Lind-Ritzville/Sprague wins.

The Broncos beat Wilbur 66-33 and Kettle Falls 43-34.

Curtis scored 25 points against Wilbur and 23 against Kettle Falls.

Brewster 64, Soap Lake 33

SOAP LAKE — Soap Lake lost to first-place Brewster 64-33.

Tracie Delgado scored 13 points for the Eagles.

PASCO — Koby Huerta scored a team-high 25 points and Big Bend beat Columbia Basin 89-76.

Blake Dittman added 23 points and 11 rebounds. DeAngelo Stowers continued his stretch of good scoring games with 19 points.

Women’s basketball

Columbia Basin 91, Big Bend 55

PASCO — Columbia Basin shot almost 65 percent from long range and blew out Big Bend 91-55.

The Vikings trailed by two points after one quarter before the Hawks started to light it up.

Miranda Johnson scored a team-high 15 points.
