MOSES LAKE — The second annual march to spotlight issues the organizers say are important to women is scheduled for noon Saturday in Moses Lake. People who want to participate in “Women’s March 2.0” are asked to assemble in the parking lot of the Surf ‘n Slide Water Park on Fourth Avenue.

The march will follow the route of the annual Ag Parade, according to a post on the Facebook page of the Grant County Democrats WA. Marchers will walk down Fourth Street, cross to Third Street, ending at Sinkuse Square.

The first march was in Ephrata, said organizer Jill Springer Forrest. “We got about 300 people last year.”

The march will be followed by a rally. Scheduled speakers include Joy Hummer, who will be talking about issues facing senior citizens, and Sylvia Hammond, who has announced her candidacy for the 13th District Washington House of Representatives seat currently held by Matt Manweller.

After the scheduled speakers, the rally will include an open microphone “where anybody who wants to can come up and talk about why they’re marching,” Springer Forrest said.

“Everybody has their individual reasons for marching,” she said. In her case, she’s interested in the presence of more women in government, since in her opinion women are underrepresented in every branch.

Voter registration forms will be available at the march as well, Springer Forrest said.
