SOAP LAKE — A Soap Lake man reportedly rolled his vehicle near Soap Lake after swerving to miss a deer in the road Tuesday morning.

About 8:15 a.m. Sterling James, 18, of Soap Lake, was driving a 2005 Ford Escape east on state Route 28, about 12 miles east of Soap Lake, when he reportedly swerved to miss a deer in the road. The vehicle reportedly left SR-28 to the left, crossed the westbound SR-28 lanes, traveled over a set of railroad tracks, rolled and came to a rest 300 yards off of SR-28, according to the Washington State Patrol.

James was injured and transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake for treatment. The patrol reports the cause of the collision was driver inattention. James was cited for driving with his wheels off of the road.
