Revival comes through knowledge

| January 11, 2018 2:00 AM

I have been talking about revival for nearly five years but I wonder if I am on the same page as other members of the church. My understanding is that revival is for the church at large, Evangelistic crusades have been billed as revival for many years now and I fear that our people believe this revival is just another crusade. Revival indicates that something needs to be revived. In this case, faith is what needs to be revived. The writer of Romans said “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” These words had me baffled for many years because having knowledge of someone does not mean we know them. I finally asked the Lord for the answer and I learned hearing is a metaphor for understanding. When we read that verse as faith comes by understanding and understanding by the Word of God, the words make sense. It therefore becomes a necessity to have a relationship with the Living Word through study of the inspired word. The faith that comes through this relationship with our savior is always truth.

We have the finest group of church leaders as we can find anywhere in our country. They have formed a ministerial association and if, when they meet, will share their pet doctrine and sort out which is from God and separate them from what is from man and come together, we will see tremendous growth within the body. Our leaders have a tremendous responsibility but an even greater opportunity to lead our country back into the great nation God intended us to be. I would welcome the opportunity to hear your thoughts even if you disagree. My number is in the phone book.
