September 20, 1930 – December 30, 2017

Vilas Eugene Pope (Gene), 87, of Moses Lake, Wash. peacefully passed at home on Dec. 30, 2017 of pneumonia. Gene was born Sept. 20, 1930 to Theron and Susanna Pope in Tekamah, Neb.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, brother Chuck Pope, sister Pat Biermeyer and great-granddaughter Heavenly Clark. Gene is survived by his loving wife Lynne Pope, sister Carolyn Pope of Spokane, son Randy Pope of Spokane, son Allen Pope of Spokane, daughter Vicki Smith of Spokane, daughter Deeann McMichael of Spokane, son Lance Pope of Moses Lake, stepdaughter Teresa Snegosky of Moses Lake, stepdaughter Debra Kim of Moses Lake, 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Gene was a loving husband and father; he was a proud veteran of the Navy, and a longtime member of The Elks. Gene was the owner/operator of Pope’s Plumbing of Moses Lake from 1976 through 2010.

Services will be held at Moses Lake Elks Lodge on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at 2 p.m., after which internment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery this spring.
