Basin roundup: Moses Lake finishes Cam Jam 3-0
SPOKANE VALLEY — Moses Lake girls basketball rounded out the Cam Jam Tournament at Central Valley High School with a pair of wins.
In a rematch of last year’s Class 4A state semifinals, Moses Lake routed Glacier Peak 56-30. The Chiefs fell behind 4-0 before closing the first quarter on an 18-0 run.
“Defensively, it was another stellar performance,” head coach Matt Strophy said.
Jamie Loera scored a game-high 20 points. Kiera McPartland scored 10 second-half points and Morgan Yamane added eight.
Moses Lake closed the tournament with a come-from-behind win against Bellarmine Prep 53-43.
The Chiefs trailed 32-21 at halftime, but a switch to zone defense sparked the second-half rally.
Madisyn Clark scored 17 points off the bench, Loera had 14 and Rathbun had nine. Arizona commit Shalyse Smith was limited to two points in the second half, 13 total.

Moses Lake 62, Desert Edge 43
GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Moses Lake finished its trip to the 2017 Scorpion Challenge with a win over Desert Edge 62-43.
The Chiefs return to Columbia Basin Big Nine play Jan. 5 at Eastmont.
Soap Lake 48, Lyle 45
LYLE — Wes McCrady scored 15 points and Soap Lake beat Lyle 48-45.
Isaiah Ewing chipped in 10 points for the Eagles.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 71, Waterville 38
COULEE CITY — Almira/Coulee-Hartline built an 18-point lead at halftime and routed Waterville 71-38.
Payton Nielsen paced the Warriors with 21 points and Maguire Isaak added 18.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 72, Dayton 23
DAYTON — Lind-Ritzville/Sprague dominated Dayton 72-23.
The Broncos led 24-3 after one quarter.
Easton Nelson scored 17 points.
Girls wrestling
Quincy takes third at Hanford Winter Cup
RICHLAND — Quincy had two tournament runners-up and finished third at the Hanford Winter Cup.
Eastmont ran away with the team title, totaling 208 points. Hanford (115) and Quincy (110) were second and third.
Quincy’s Cynthia Diaz was pinned by Maizy Feltwell of Liberty-Spangle in the 115-pound championship. Quincy’s other runner-up Jaselyn Jones was pinned by Wapato’s Estrella Pulgarin in the 140-pound title match.
Ephrata’s Mya Spencer won the 130-pound championship, pinning Hanford’s Hailey Sar in the second round.
Xochitl Tafoya (third), Josselinne Gonzalez (fifth), Briana Cordova (seventh) and Samantha Schaapmann (fourth) also placed for the Jacks. For Ephrata, Sienna Stocking was third, Emma Schmuck and Renessa Cole were sixth, and Devina Fish was seventh.

Big Bend loses Skagit Holiday Tournament finale
MT. VERNON — Big Bend was outscored 52-35 in the second half and fell in the finale of the Skagit Holiday Tournament to Bellevue 76-63.
Emily Allan recorded a double-double of 22 points, 10 rebounds and Leah Dougherty scored 14 points off the bench.
Big Bend defeated Edmonds 80-60 on Friday. Reserve guard Miranda Johnson exploded for 31 points on 12-of-16 shooting.
