Basin roundup: Wahluke's run ends in regionals
YAKIMA — Wahluke could not survive overtime against King’s Way Christian and was eliminated from the postseason 71-67.
The Warriors led 64-61 before King’s Way junior Khalfani Cason made a game-tying 3-pointer. Cason led King’s Way with 35 points.
Wahluke opened up a 36-31 lead at halftime behind a 23-13 second quarter.
Wahluke’s duo of Ricardo Cabrera and Sergio Pineda scored 31 and 17 points, respectively.
The Warriors led 62-55 with five minutes to play before Cason led King’s Way back.
Royal 68, Bellevue Christian 61
ELLENSBURG — Royal avenged an early-season loss to Bellevue Christian in the regional round of the state tournament 68-61.
Royal advanced to the state quarterfinals and will play either Montesano or The Northwest School Thursday, 9 a.m., at the Yakima SunDome

PULLMAN — Almira/Coulee-Hartline girls basketball fell to second-ranked Pomeroy 52-42.
ACH will play Wednesday, 5:30 p.m., in a loser-out game against Taholah at the Spokane Arena
College baseball
Spokane 18-13, Big Bend 4-7
MOSES LAKE — Big Bend was swept in its season-opening doubleheader against Spokane 18-4 and 13-7.
Spokane led Game 1 3-2 after two innings before scoring 11 runs over the next two innings.
The Vikings’ Nic Metcalf finished 2-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI. Big Bend starter Blake Collier was tagged with the loss.
Big Bend led Game 2 6-4 after four innings before Spokane scored five runs in the fifth inning and four in the eighth inning.
Benjamin Albrecht and Nathan English drove in two runs apiece for the Vikings.
