Construction projects underway all around town
MOSES LAKE — From a new motel to remodeling of existing buildings, construction projects are proceeding apace in Moses Lake.
The exterior walls are up and the plumbing is going in at the new Holiday Inn Express at 2300 S. Maiers Rd., at the intersection of Maiers Road and Yonezawa Boulevard. The four-story building will have 96 rooms, said Tim Molitor, who’s part of the development and management team. The new building is scheduled to open in summer 2018.
The building will have “a very large lobby,” Molitor said, a big open space taking up a large section of the first floor, an example of the company’s new design for its Express properties.
“We’re putting the money here in Moses Lake because we think Moses Lake needs it,” Molitor said.
The existing Holiday Inn Express, 1735 Kittleson Rd., will be remodeled and converted to a Wingate by Wyndham, Molitor said.
The exterior is completed and the windows are in at a new, 4,216-square-foot office building at 1570 Pilgrim St., next to Moses Lake High School. City officials said the building is owned by Corbin Moberg, a physician’s assistant.
Ace Hardware will be returning to Moses Lake this spring, opening in the vacant space at 601 South Pioneer Way. The new store will be part of the Ag Supply Company chain. The company has locations in Wenatchee and East Wenatchee, Quincy, Ephrata and Brewster, among others.
Doors at the new Ace Hardware are scheduled to open in April or May. The space previously was occupied by the Hastings bookstore.
Other spaces also are being remodeled, including a building at 410 West Third St., the old Boys and Girls Club location. City officials said its new owners plan to open a daycare. The former Loyal Order of Moose location, 417 West Broadway Ave., also is undergoing remodeling. Plans given to city officials show its owners will open a gym.
The building permit remains active for the proposed Pita Pit sandwich shop on West Broadway. A building permit does have a time limit; it’s issued for 180 days. But the 180 days starts over when there’s any activity on the project, city officials said.
A building permit also has been issued for a new restaurant, Taqueria El Rinconsito, at 205 South Pioneer Way.
