Brews & Tunes features local musicians, breweries
MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Downtown District is a melting pot of businesses, history, a small business environment at its finest from the brick store front at Settler’s Country Market, the clock tower at a Third Street intersection, with restaurants and a little bit of everything.
The one thing that would make all that better is a music and a taste of the local breweries latest brews. And that’s how the Brews & Tunes community event came to be.
The Moses Lake Business Association will host the Brews & Tunes event from 1 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 24.
The local musicians will be playing. The beer from nine different local and regional breweries will be flowing and the weather. It is February, but the weather is warming and the event should be a good one, said Michaelle Boetger, executive director for the Moses Lake Business Association.
“This is an event we brought back from a few years ago, same name, but different format,” Boetger said. “This will be similar to our wine walks where participants walk from business to business, sample beers, listen to local musicians and shop our downtown merchants.
“There’s so much to do downtown, we hope locals and tourists all enjoy this event and hopefully it’s something they enjoy and we can do again.”
The local breweries will be out in force, including Ten Pin Brewing Co., Doghaus Brewery, Wenatchee Valley Brewing, Rocky Coulee Brewing Co., St. Brigid’s Brewery, Bale Breaker Brewing Co., No-Li Brewhouse, Badger Mountain Brewing and Silver City Brewing.
Folks can taste the latest at host businesses like Red Door Café, Settler’s Country Market, Body Benefitz, Eden Salon, Michael’s Bistro, Artgarden Pottery, Miller’s Fine Jewelers, Simmer and the Smith Martin Building.
“I think it’s fun to do downtown events and have something for people to do in Moses Lake,” Red Door Cafe co-owner Lisa Boorman said. “Lee Lester was the People’s Choice Favorite for the Art & Wine Walk. He asked us if he could bring the whole band for this event, so we’ll have them all here.
“We know the Russell family. So we always have Ten Pin (Brewing Co.) come for every event, even at the Wine Walk. Even though they were beer, we told them we wanted them here. Now that we serve beer and wine, we serve Ten Pin all the time anyway.”
Local musicians such as Lee Lester, Rylei Franks and Ty Huck will be playing their music in downtown locations.
Tickets for the beer tastings are $25 apiece or $45 per couple until Feb. 23. The price goes up the day of the event. Tickets include 16 tastings from nine breweries, live music at various locations downtown, a tasting glass, a bag, map and chance to win raffle prizes from downtown business.
Tickets are on sale now online at www.mlbacares.org or at Director’s Mortgage (1240 S. Pioneer Way, Suite B), Mason’s Place (102 E. Third Ave., Ste 101), Simple Balances (213 S. Beech St.) or Artgarden Pottery (104 W. Third Ave.).
