Special election all but decided

EPHRATA — Although the results are not official, most of the levy propositions that were up for vote in Grant County during Tuesday’s special election are passing after Wednesday’s ballot count.

Grant County Election Administrator Trisha Gibb said all of the school-related elections that had voters decided on a levy are required to receive at least 50 percent to pass. The Grant County Hospital District No. 2 levy for operations and maintenance needed 60 percent in order to pass.

According to the Grant County Elections Department reports there are a total of 10,536 voters in the county and Tuesday’s special election voter turnout was 33.48 percent. There are three ballots left to be counted and the next scheduled ballot count, which is also the day the results will be certified by the state, is Feb. 23.

The results from Wednesday’s ballot count are as follows:

Grant County Hospital District No. 2 Proposition No. 1 (levy for operations and maintenance):

Yes, 1,240 votes, 69.43 percent.

No, 546 votes, 30.57 percent.

Wahluke School District Proposition No. 1 (replacement of expiring educational programs and operation levy):

Yes, 190 votes, 49.48 percent.

No, 194 votes, 50.52 percent.

Warden School District Proposition No. 1 (replacement education programs and operation levy):

Grant County

Yes, 267 votes, 62.97 percent.
