Vote yes on maintenance and operation levy

| February 8, 2018 12:00 AM

To the people in Adams County, we, the members of the Cemetery District No.2, are asking you to vote yes on the maintenance and operation levy that has been put on the ballet. The levy is for $20,000, which is only $0.02 per $1,000 of assessed value in 2018 for the year 2019.

The Adams Cemetery, which is known better as the American Legion Cemetery is located on Highway 17 going toward Moses Lake. This has always been supported by your tax dollars and receives no other funding.

Your yes vote on this will be for one year and would support the upkeep and maintenance for four or five years. Our expenses run about $3,500 a year for lawn care and maintenance.

The Adam’s family donated that land as a cemetery back in a winter when it was too cold to take Mrs. Adams clear to Cunningham to be buried. The trip would have been by horse and wagon and would have taken four days for the round trip. There are a lot of pioneers buried there and a lot of history.

Your yes vote will ensure that we, as a board, will be able to keep up with the maintenance and care that is needed.

Please vote yes.

Thank you for your support,

Brad Kent,

Eric Morgan and LuAnn Morgan

Cemetery District No. 2 board members
