Basketball roundup: Ephrata completes sweep of Quincy
QUINCY — Ephrata created separation with an 18-6 second quarter to beat Quincy 60-43.
Hunter James led the Tigers with 22 points. Josh Benthem and Jakob Oxos added nine and eight points, respectively.
The bulk of the Jacks’ scoring was done by the trio of Tyson Thornton, Felipe Zepeda and Trajan Trevino. Thornton, Zepeda and Trevino combined to score 35 of Quincy’s 43 points.
Ephrata hosts Othello today, 7 p.m., in the first round of the CWAC district tournament.

BENTON CITY — Armando Reyes made a buzzer beater and Royal was dealt its first SCAC East loss by Kiona-Benton 52-50.
Corbin Christensen scored a game-high 22 points for the Knights.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague closed its regular season with a pair of losses to Liberty, 56-48, and Colfax, 43-30.
Bryce Kelly led the Broncos with 18 points against Liberty and Drew Kelly scored nine against Colfax.

BENTON CITY — Royal locked down the final SCAC East district playoff berth at Kiona-Benton 55-24.
Stefany Rodriguez scored 17 points for the Knights.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague was stifled offensively in losses to Liberty, 56-48, and Colfax, 43-30.
Peyton Curtis paced the Broncos with 21 points against the Lancers. The Broncos scored just 13 points through three quarters against Colfax.

MOSES LAKE — Big Bend men’s basketball returned to the win column, beating Blue Mountain 86-71.
Miles Brown went off for 29 points. Koby Huerta and Blake Dittman poured in 19 and 18 points, respectively.
The Runnin’ Vikes sit in sixth place in the NWAC East.

Women’s basketball
Big Bend 61, Blue Mountain 46
MOSES LAKE — Big Bend stayed in the playoff hunt with a 61-46 win over Blue Mountain.
The Vikings are in fifth place and trail North Idaho by one in the loss column for the last playoff berth.
Sunnie Martinez scored 19 points to go with four assists. Hailey Garrity posted a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
