MOSES LAKE — If weather prognosticators are correctly predicting the forecast in Moses Lake for New Year’s day then participants in the year’s annual Polar Bear Plunge are in for a frigid dip in the lake.

The plunge, which benefits Grant County Animal Outreach (GCAO) and is organized by the agency, is set to take place at noon at Cascade Park, 8301 W. Valley Road in Moses Lake. Hot chocolate, coffee and cookies will be served for participants after they take the plunge. There will also be a raffle for a gift basket and each person who makes a donation to GCAO will receive a raffle ticket. Polar Bear Plunge merchandise will also be up for purchase.

At past events any ice that has accumulated on Moses Lake has been cut out with a chainsaw for the plunge. Responders with the Moses Lake Fire Department typically attend as well in the event of an emergency.
