One injured in car-semi accident near Othello
OTHELLO — A Silverton, Idaho man was injured when the car he was driving was hit by a semi about six miles east of Othello Wednesday afternoon. The accident blocked SR 26 for about two hours.
Shawn Summerkamp, 50, was driving east on SR 26 at about 4:30 p.m. when his car was hit by a semi at Booker Road, according to a press release from the Washington State Patrol. The semi’s driver, Alejandro Morales Martinez, 48, Tijuana, Mexico, allegedly ran the stop sign, the WSP memo said.
The semi came to rest across both lanes of Booker Road, while Summerkamp’s truck came to rest on the eastbound embankment.
Summerkamp was transported to Othello Community Hospital; Morales Martinez was injured but was not transported. Summerkamp’s vehicle, a 2017 Ford F 250 truck, was totaled. The semi, a 2014 Freightliner, also was totaled, the WSP report said.
