Manweller submits resignation

| December 20, 2018 2:00 AM

ELLENSBURG — Rep. Matt Manweller yesterday tendered his letter of resignation from the state legislature to Gov. Jay Inslee.

His resignation comes after multiple sexual harassment allegations led House Republican leadership to call for Manweller to step down, and after an overwhelming victory over his Democratic opponent in the November election.

The resignation will be effective Jan. 14, and his replacement will be selected in coming weeks by county commissioners from Grant, Lincoln, Kittitas and Yakima counties. The three candidates commissioners can choose from are Alex Ybarra, Danny Stone, and Ian Elliot.
